Research focus is on feminist theory, science studies and the cultural politics of gender, sexuality, race and science. Co-Editor with Seung-kyung Kim and Emek Ergun of Feminist Theory Reader: Local and Global Perspectives,(New York: Routledge Press, 2003, 2009, 2013, 2016 and, forthcoming 2020.) Author of Figuring the Population Bomb, (University of Washington Press, Feminist Technosciences Series, 2016) and Birth Control Politics in the United States, 1916-1945 (Ithaca: Cornell University Press, 1994; 1999). Lipitz Professor, 2017-2018. Special Assistant to the Provost for Interdisciplinary Activities, Chair of the Interdisciplinary Activities Advisory Committee, and Affiliate Faculty in the Language, Literacy, and Culture Ph.D. Program. Mentor and department host for two UMBC Postdoctoral Fellows for Faculty Diversity.
