Research focus is on Latin American cultural studies, gender violence and the politics of human rights in Latin America, memory studies, transnational feminisms, and Third world studies. Recently published, “We are not Victims, we are the Protagonists of this History’: Latin American Gender Violence and the Limits of Women’s Rights as Human Rights,” in the International Feminist Journal of Politics. Organized a panel for the 2013 Latin American Studies Association that centered on the legacy of Mexico’s Dirty War in cultural narrative and participated in the Women of Color Leadership project at the 2013 National Women’s Association conference in Cincinnati, Ohio. Member of the new Global Studies program steering committee and the Latino/Hispanic Faculty Association.
