Research focus is on the development of the central nervous system and brain energy metabolism. Recipient of the 2006 Presidential Early Career Award in Science and Engineering (PECASE). Member of the NCF Study section at NIH. Served as a panelist at a workshop on mentoring minority postdocs at the Institute on Teaching and Mentoring and as a panelist for UMBC Faculty Horizons and Graduate Horizons. Plenary speaker for the Women’s History Month Mini-Conference at the University of Pittsburg and invited speaker at a Symposium Honoring the late Ernest Everett Just at Howard University.
